Welcome to Schroeder Middle School! Our school is dedicated to meeting the needs of our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and their families. As a Schroeder Raider, the middle school experience will be enhanced by our faculty and staff, who are dedicated to meeting our students’ social, emotional, and academic growth through high quality educational and extra-curricular opportunities.
With over 575 students in grades 6, 7 and 8, Schroeder is the largest middle school in Grand Forks. Our mission is “Inspiring a community of learners to strive for excellence through meaningful experiences.” This mission will be achieved by working towards our vision “We build critical thinkers who embrace challenges to grow as individuals and a community.” At Schroeder, we value and support high expectations, growth mindsets, and collaborative relationships in our effort to grow respectful, problem-solving citizens in safe and supportive environments.
All schools in the Grand Forks Public School District are currently engaged in meeting the rigor and requirements of becoming High Reliability Schools (HRS). The HRS framework consists of five levels of growth and achievement grounded in research-based, best practices in education. In June of 2023, Schroeder Middle School became certified in HRS Level 2 - Effective Teaching in Every Classroom. This certification was obtained through our implementation and use of a school-wide instructional model, professional goal setting, classroom teacher observations and follow-up conferencing, job-embedded professional development, common grading practices, and frequent grade-level and content teacher meetings. As we continue to strive for excellence in Level 2, we also continue to revisit and revise our work in HRS Level 1 - Providing a Safe and Collaborative Culture.
